Congratulations to Vivien Hillgrove for receiving a 2020 California Documentary Project Grant. Vivien's documentary Viv's Wild Ride is sponsored by Swell Cinema.

About Vivien Hillgrove

Vivien Hillgrove, a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has over 50 years of experience as an editor for both narrative feature films and documentaries.

Vivien’s narrative feature credits include Phil Kaufman’s Henry and June (Picture Editor) and The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Supervising Dialogue Editor and Picture Editor with Walter Murch, Supervising Picture Editor); Supervising Dialogue Editor: for Amadeus by Milos Forman, Blue Velvet by David Lynch, and The Mosquito Coast by Peter Weir; Dialogue Editor for Never Cry Wolf; and Dialogue Editor and Source Music Editor for The Right Stuff.

Her documentary credits include: seven films by Lourdes Portillo including La Ofrenda: The Days of the Dead, The Devil Never Sleeps, Senorita Extraviada (Sundance Special Jury Award and IDA winner) and Corpus: A Home Movie For Selena; three films for Deann Borshay Liem: First Person Plural (POV), In the Matter of Cha Jung Hee (Asia Pacific Film Festival Best Editing Award), and Co-Editor on Geographies of Kinship; Co-Editor and Co-Producer on Native Alaskan We Breathe Again.  Editor: Homeland: Four Portraits of Native Action for Earthworks; Heart of the Sea (Independent Lens Audience Award) for Swell Cinema; Happy directed by Roko Belic; The Future of Food and Symphony of the Soil for Lily Films; and Music Editor for Broken Rainbow (Academy Award 1986), for Earthworks.

Vivien has served as an editing advisor at multiple Sundance Institute Documentary Composer Edit Labs, as well as for the Latino Producers Academy (NALIP) and for Chicken & Egg Pictures.
